SSL by default

All our customer sites currently use SSL (HTTPS: secure web mode) for the enrolment and checkout process to protect confidential information and credit card data. Now that we've upgraded our load balancers, we are rolling out SSL at no additional cost for your entire site, starting at the home page. This has some advantages:

* Boost in SEO
* Greater confidence from your users, at a time when privacy and security are often in the press
* Security from ISPs performing analysis of customers and content, or (in extreme cases) even injecting their own ads into your pages. Although rare on home/business ISPs, injecting ads is quite common on free wifi such as at airports
* Security from governments tracking user browsing

The move to SSL is being staged and we'll contact you when we are ready to upgrade your site.

    Consider sending an email to your customers in your next newsletter talking up the new feature. How you are protecting your students' privacy, and keeping their best interests at heart. There are themes of government meta-data collection you can mention (without sounding like a conspiracy nut!). This is a good news story you can send out.

    This new feature was made possible by a new cluster of load balancers we deployed early this year to handle the increased load without slowing down your site.
